Identify your target audiences - such as existing and potential customers, staff, investors, intermediaries, suppliers, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders

Develop objectives for each audience - such as building awareness, creating confidence in your organisation and achieving trial

Select relevant communications strategies: decide on the communications mix such as advertising, PR, sales promotion, direct marketing; make branding decisions; determine your message and how the plan will form an integrated whole

Write tactical plans for implementing your strategies. For example, you may need a detailed PR plan

Establish control mechanisms to evaluate achievement of objectives.
